A tiny two-week-old tabby kitten was brought to The Odd Cat Sanctuary, giving her a chance at a better life.

“She came to us from a local owner surrender. She was given up as a single kitten because she was the only baby in the litter, not nursing,” Kristy, the vice president of The Odd Cat Sanctuary, shared with Love Meow.

Three dedicated veterinary technicians worked tirelessly to help the kitten eat, ultimately saving her life.

Even though the tabby was underweight, she remained in good spirits and showed a strong will to live. Her caregiver woke up every two hours throughout the night to ensure she never missed a feeding and received all the care she needed.

“It was no easy task. When she got to her second bottle feeder, who named her Onion, she started to consistently gain weight.”

Onion was so tiny that she needed to be fed with a syringe at first. But as she gained strength, her appetite improved, and she eagerly gulped down the formula like a champ. After each meal, she nestled in for some cuddles with her caregiver before being tucked into a cozy, warm bed.

“It takes a village to save lives. A lot of people came together to ensure this little girl thrived.”

Onion loved snuggling with her people, falling asleep on their shoulder or curled up in the crook of their neck. The moment she was held, she melted into a puddle of contentment. A few gentle belly rubs would have her rolling around with her paws waving happily in the air.

As she grew bigger and stronger, her playful, mischievous side emerged.

Onion rode around in her own little cat-mobile to keep up with her feeding schedule. She was curious about every place she visited, charming everyone with her irresistible baby blues and endearing personality.

As her legs grew stronger, she made bold attempts to break out of her nest and explore the world beyond.

At four weeks old, her appetite is insatiable, and she drinks from a proper bottle with gusto. Onion can hardly wait for each feeding, clutching her bottle tightly as she gobbles down every drop of the formula.

It’s amazing to think that just two weeks ago, she struggled to eat. Now, she fills her belly every time and proudly sports her little milk-stache.

As she was finding her footing, she met a canine friend who took her under his wing and showed her the ropes.

Puck, a gentle foster dog, smothers Onion with slobbery kisses whenever she snuggles up to him. He even rolls onto his back, letting her trot all over him and practice her wrestling moves with his ears.

Thanks to the compassionate vet techs and volunteers, Onion is flourishing with constant company. Soon, she will be zooming around like she owns the place, getting ready for her next chapter—a forever home.

“This perfect angel is already spoken for and going to her forever home with a big (cat) brother when she’s ready.”
